Theme Thursday - Weather.

This weeks theme is Weather. I took this shot on the way home from work. I see this kind of thing all the time and never have my camera on me but this time I did have it but by the time I actually took the shot I had missed the best effects of the sun coming through the break in the clouds and you can just see a little on the left. Still looks cool though! We are having some very cold weather here in Melbourne, a very cold start to winter! Posted by Picasa

Theme Thursday - Transportation.

I couldn't decide between the two of these photos so I have posted both.
1: The first is a photo of the Skyrail near Cairns, Queensland. This is a pretty slow ride over the Rainforest and Barron Falls.
2: This photo shows The Daintree River Train. They conduct tours on the Daintree River in Queensland. Looks like alot of fun to catch this train.

My Girls Molly and Jemma.

I took these shots at Williamstown beach last month. The day was mild and a little overcast but the dogs just love going down to the beach to play. Molly is the bigger dog. She is a Kelpie/ Blue Heeler cross and looks like a small Shepherd. She is loyal, devoted, clingy , jealous and loves to chase a ball. The smaller dog is Jemma. She is a Fox Terrier/Jack Russel cross. She is independent, indifferent, feisty, inquisitive and love to explore. They are both beautiful dogs in their own way.

Theme Thursday - Energy

This is my girl Molly. She is a Kelpie cross and a beautiful natured dog who loves to chasea ball and especially, to jump high and pluck them from the air! Here I think she looks like a ballet dancer. Taken February 2006.

Photo Friday - Smooth.

Photo Friday theme this week is smooth. This is a succulant plant I have in a pot out the back. The leaves are very smooth. I don't know what it is called and really, its lucky to be alive! I am not much of a gardener I'm afraid!

Pigeons.

My husband is a pigeon racer so there are always plenty of these opportunities. I particularly liked this shot for the mob in the background. Taken March 2006.

Theme Thursday - Vision.

My husbands glasses sitting on one of my drawing books. Fingers crossed I don't need them yet. This is for the Theme Thursday theme of Vision. http://www.spunwithtears.com/thursday.html

Photo Friday - Technology.

What! Where's the ball!!??
This is the bottom of my optical mouse. Only just recently had to get a new mouse and bought this one. Still can't quite grasp the fact it has no ball!

Greenants.

These are Greenants. They may have a proper name? I don't know. When I was visiting the rainforest in far North Queensland , I saw these everywhere, and I mean everywhere! They are about seven centimetres long and an iridescent green colour.

This is a Greenants Nest. It is a mass of dead leaves they stick them together somehow and make a nest high up in the trees.

Oh, Here we go, I found some info:

"Green Ants (Oecophylla sp)are extremely common in Far North Queensland and build large nests in trees by sticking the leaves at the end of branches together to create a sort of globular home. They clamber all over the tree containing their nest and serve to protect it from invaders. These ants are often found in fruit trees.
When the unsuspecting person tries to help themselves to some tasty fruit to eat, the aggressive green ants drop down on them and start biting. Their bite is not very painful but several ants attacking simultaneously can be rather uncomfortable."

Golden Orb Spider.

This photo was taken at Thala Beach Resort, Far North Queensland, Australia. It is the very large Golden Orb Spider. The web of the spider is a golden colour when caught by the sunlight. This spider is as big as my hand, perhaps a little bigger. Posted by Picasa
