Theme Thursday - Energy

This is my girl Molly. She is a Kelpie cross and a beautiful natured dog who loves to chasea ball and especially, to jump high and pluck them from the air! Here I think she looks like a ballet dancer. Taken February 2006.

Photo Friday - Smooth.

Photo Friday theme this week is smooth. This is a succulant plant I have in a pot out the back. The leaves are very smooth. I don't know what it is called and really, its lucky to be alive! I am not much of a gardener I'm afraid!

Pigeons.

My husband is a pigeon racer so there are always plenty of these opportunities. I particularly liked this shot for the mob in the background. Taken March 2006.

Theme Thursday - Vision.

My husbands glasses sitting on one of my drawing books. Fingers crossed I don't need them yet. This is for the Theme Thursday theme of Vision. http://www.spunwithtears.com/thursday.html

Photo Friday - Technology.

What! Where's the ball!!??
This is the bottom of my optical mouse. Only just recently had to get a new mouse and bought this one. Still can't quite grasp the fact it has no ball!

Greenants.

These are Greenants. They may have a proper name? I don't know. When I was visiting the rainforest in far North Queensland , I saw these everywhere, and I mean everywhere! They are about seven centimetres long and an iridescent green colour.

This is a Greenants Nest. It is a mass of dead leaves they stick them together somehow and make a nest high up in the trees.

Oh, Here we go, I found some info:

"Green Ants (Oecophylla sp)are extremely common in Far North Queensland and build large nests in trees by sticking the leaves at the end of branches together to create a sort of globular home. They clamber all over the tree containing their nest and serve to protect it from invaders. These ants are often found in fruit trees.
When the unsuspecting person tries to help themselves to some tasty fruit to eat, the aggressive green ants drop down on them and start biting. Their bite is not very painful but several ants attacking simultaneously can be rather uncomfortable."

Golden Orb Spider.

This photo was taken at Thala Beach Resort, Far North Queensland, Australia. It is the very large Golden Orb Spider. The web of the spider is a golden colour when caught by the sunlight. This spider is as big as my hand, perhaps a little bigger. Posted by Picasa
